What the order holds

  • Columns for an orchard crew: the work, the block and rows, the unit, the norm, the piece rate, the quantity done and the amount.
  • In Excel, the amount is calculated for you: quantity done × piece rate.
  • Lines for the signatures of the person who issued the order and the person who accepted the work.

In Hortusys, the crew leader assigns the work, block, row and rate from the phone, and each worker's earnings come from the field records.

Questions about the piece-work order

Is there a standard form for a piece-work order?

Not in Ukraine. A farm keeps its own form that shows the amount of work, the norm and the piece rate.

When is the order written?

Before the work starts, for one shift or for a longer period. An order is for one worker or for a whole crew.

How is the amount calculated?

Amount = quantity done × piece rate. To find the piece rate, divide the hourly rate by the hourly output norm. The piece-rate pay guide has examples.

How is the order different from a timesheet?

The order records how much work was done and what it earned. The timesheet records how many hours a person worked. Farms usually keep both.
